Virtualbox is bullstuff. You should have the following options (If I remember correctly):
Monochrome (2 Colors)
4-Bit
256 Colors
8-Bit Full Color
16-bit True Color
24-bit True Color

I couldn't get the original machine to run so I'm trying to boot from the drive on my Gateway.

If you're using Windows 2000 or earlier, use Virtual PC 2007. Otherwise they're pretty much the same thing.
