Author Topic: I need a decent hosting service that isn't expensive  (Read 1553 times)

like, hosting websites
I've been using 000webhost's free hosting, just for messing around, but now I want to get something better
000webhost claims that its paid hosting is $4.84 a month, but trying to order that just takes you to the hosting24 site, where they charge $7.80 a month
so I'm guessing the price on 000webhost is assuming you buy one of the discounted lengths on hosting24
anyway, it made me think that I might wanna consider a different service, anyway

so I just want something that is acceptable, lets me do whatever I want (not as important, and rules about illegal stuff are ok of course), and is no more than $10 a month

I use hosting24, I love it.

000webhost pulled kind of a richard move by saying it's "$4.84/mo*", that's only if you buy 3 years at a time I think.

I use a VPS to host my site. This one, in fact. You should see if you can find a VPS service in your area thats relatively cheap. I like using VPS's over a service for sites, because you can use the VPS to host your site as well as host servers for games and things.

You can buy a vps system and set up a LAMP server on it for three bucks a month and 100mb/s connection on ComfortVPS, but it's very advanced.

This looks much more professional

that is pretty interesting thing, but with stuff like limited storage space and bandwidth, while hosting24 isn't limited, and having to consider all the other factors like RAM, it isn't really worth it for me
especially since hosting games is useless to me, because I wouldn't be able to play on them anyway :I

anyway, the point is, a VPS isn't for me

I figured hosting24 would be fine, I've been liking 000webhost, I just wanted to know about others people might like

Hosting24 was complete garbage.

It was down nearly half of the time, and the customer support wouldn't help me.

You might like Mochahost.com, if your mission is just to host a personal website. Even if you only buy a month, it's like $3 a month. Even lower when you buy extended periods of time, of course.

is there any advantage to using windows servers instead of linux? I imagine there is, because it's a lot more expensive than their linux servers :v

because windows server costs more

from what i've experienced linux works much better for hosting things simply because its much more resourceful than windows

oh

well anyway, I'm probably gonna use mochahost
but their three-year package doesn't include a domain name, so it will work to register the domain with godaddy and use it with mochahost, right?

I recommend GoDaddy because of their reliable customer service, reasonable prices, and efficiency. What are you planning on hosting anyway?

godaddy's hosting is too expensive for me
I mean, it wasn't to begin with, but it is now

also it has some disadvantages that probably won't affect me but still
