Author Topic: Comcast Users: You've Been Upgraded to 50mbps or 150mbps  (Read 3069 times)

Comcast did a speed upgrade on their network today. If you had Blast then you will now 105mbps, if you had Extreme 105 you will now have 150mbps. There have been reports of the lower tiers getting bumped to 50mbps. You will need to restart your cable modem to get these speeds. Also, keep in mind you will need a 16-channel bond DOCSIS 3 modem to get 150mbps if your on extreme. You can rent one or buy one for about $90. A DOCSIS 3 modem is also required for 50mbps.

Upload speed remains the same on all packages. They should really change this.

There is some unconfirmed talk about 150mbps being switched to 305mbps.

Update: It seems a very limited number of people have gotten this. As far as I know it's only confirmed in the Northeast. If you're in the Northeast and had success let us know.

No change. I have blast plus iirc

It could be for the Northeast only again. Today is the first day, it will eventually make it your way. Restart cable modem if you didn't try.

Worst part is we pay for 50Mb/s download and 3 upload and we get this bullstuff.

I hate internet in the US.

That would be a modem or router issue. Without a DOCSIS 3 modem on a gigabit speed my connection is severely limited. Router also must support those speeds.

What modems/routers would you recommend?

I need to upgrade my old ass qwest modem damn it

In Southern California, you get Charter.

There's signal problems IIRC so that might not be my true speed.

are some routers limited to certain providers

I don't see this upgrade thing anywhere
also, how can I tell if my current router supports it?
