Speedtest measures in megabits, which is 1/8th of a megabyte. 11.44/8 = 1.43MB/s upload.
my father argued similarly but his screen doesn't show differently, we both tested the internet with Speedtest.net.
i watched him test twice with 2.5 or so Mb/s, then he watched me test twice and get that 11.44 (later 11.74) Mb/s.
he is pretty knowledgeable about computers which is why his remark about cooking my computer is sort of strange and i'm pretty sure he isn't serious
unless of course Speedtest.net changes any upload speed above 20 Mb/s to 2 MB/s and my eye didn't catch the change, but i swear it didn't
