Author Topic: WIP Stunt Park -- Make Suggestions!  (Read 3087 times)

Hello!

Not too sure if this belongs in either GD or Gallery, but considering I'm showing a build I thought it'd best fit here...

So I've been working on a Sort-Of-Freestyle-Stunt Gamemode, and this is the build so far. Not a whole lot done, but I'm just trying to get the essentials down before doing anything unique!

I haven't got a whole lot yet, there's just a half-pipe and a small ramp area including two quarter pipes and a funbox.

I'm also working on a modified skiis, and have been using a lightly modded version of them to test the ramps out. It'll come with the game mode, hopefully along with a new model. If anyone could help me out, or even make a skateboard/something neat for this that'd be awesome!

Anyway, here is the build so far:

So what would you like to see in the build? Any cool, unique ideas? Or something a little specific?

If you can make one of those tubes where you can try to take the skateboard over the top from inside the tube, but I think you need to make a gravity skateboard to accomplish that.

Couldn't get the actual picture up so this link will lead you there.  Look on both sides of the pic so you can know what I was talking about when I mean by tubes.

I don't think I recognise what that is, sorry?
But I'm certainly curious o;

Have any images?

It looks really nice but we don't have a good skateboard to accompany it.

pretty good, make the print say "go big or go home" instead of "stunt!"

Okay so this build would literally look 20x better if you used the default ramp print instead of the ugly brick texture one.

PLEASE change it, it'll be so good.
I remember when the bike first came out (back in V6 or something) and someone made a skate park and it was the coolest thing.

I second that notion^
It looks weird with brick textures on a surface that is ALWAYS smooth, it's a skate park

When using mod terrain, I rarely use any prints except the 'default ramp' one.

Every other one is ugly in my opinion.

I know it looks weird, and I'm trying to find a decent texture to replace it. The issue is, without the stud print it's difficult to actually see where the contours and turns are in the ramps...

Couldn't agree more that all the others are pretty ugly.

That "Basic Skateboard" is pretty gross...
All you really need are skiis that have improved speed and hill climbing.

It's pretty fun with Pandan's bike, in any case (:

Don't have quite enough space on the half pipe, but I'll have to put that on another ramp! Thanks :D

I'm unsure of how well it handles terrain, but what about the hover board?

Hm, good suggestion... As the actual body of the vehicle doesn't touch the ground, and it's just the wheels (to my understanding) it might go alright?

I'll try it out soon.

Some useful advice, which you should definitely do.

-Use the stunt bike add-on (even though it doesn't feel realistic, its still fun)
-Change the ramp textures to 'default ramp'
-Add more to it, maybe park benches, rails, boxes
-Add a coffee shop or some buildings next to it so it feels realistic (idk about you but British skate parks usually have coffee shops or whatever)

Thanks for the suggestions, I've still got a whole lot yet to add, obviously. I'm thinking of having it split between an indoor/outdoor area, too.

Have been using the stunt bike already, it is lots of fun!

As for the print, well...

With a build like this, it's important to be able to see the contours in the ramps. You need to be able to see the actual dimension of what you're climbing, so you can appropriately adjust yourself as you ascend and descend the vert.

Seriously, I left in that slice of background so you could actually tell it's not just a flat brick you're staring at. It's one of my pet peeves with ModTer, and I'm trying to find an okay workaround in the form of making my own print. Until then, it's this...

use lights and stuff, it makes it easier to see the contours
