Author Topic: ever heard of fostering?  (Read 1620 times)

except you have it backwards bc purebred dogs have more health issues, it's from inbreeding
just like with humans
comparing a mixed breed to a 2003 civic with 125k miles is kinda dumb, too. instead, let's say the mix is a lambo and the purebred is a bugatti. you're paying a stuff ton of money just for bragging rights

If it's a carefully selected pair of purebred dogs (not directly related), there shouldn't be any problems.  My mom does hours and hours and hours of research before getting purebred dogs.  Puppy mills are where the mutated purebreds come from.

you know it's too late for that right?
like they're already forgeted up
for example look at this ugly monstrosity

here's what they used to look like

pure white bull terriers have a 20% chance of being deaf. that's a fifth of them. a fifth

for another example, pugs
it's too late to get one that isn't inbred. literally impossible

I don't see a reason to get a pure breed, the only reason we got our jack russel is because it was my dad's friend, and he was cute.
If he was any more then 45$, I doubt my parents would of gotten him.

Before our jack russel we had two mixed beagles, and a mixed border collie, and we enjoyed them just as much.
If we hadn't been moving I'm certain we still would of owned them.

I never knew about that.
I can definitely see a difference between the two.

The idea of paying for a pet always makes me upset. It feels like paying for a slave and it's horrible. :C

This. I think adopting is always the best choice since you're helping alleviate the issue of too many of them being out on the street instead of paying people who are making more of them.

adopt from a no-kill shelter. you still have to pay, but it's okay, because you're paying for the shelter to continue housing homeless animals, not for a breeder to continue breeding broken dogs

what de fuhhh, that's adorable
no it isn't
but even if you think it is, so are pugs
doesn't matter tho. don't buy them

fostering children > fostering pets
you wouldn't belive the stuff you'll learn from foster children

I got my cat from the local no-kill.

Also, I think between all my house pets, the overall adoption fees are about $1450.
