Author Topic: How hot is too hot for a laptop GPU?  (Read 3117 times)

Title I guess. My GPU has been getting really hot according to EVGA precision and I wanted to know what too hot was according to you guys.

Not sure for laptops but desktops shouldn't exceed 80oC in CPU, GPU or system temperature. And systems come with auto-shutdown incase the temperature passes 75oC. My system has it so yours must have it.

well stuff
mine has been routinely hitting 80 and above on warm days

For me, 60C is normal under stress, but around 70 I start to get a bit worried, 80C is probably when I'd give it a nice long break.

But I've never gone over 65C, to my knowledge, so I wouldn't worry unless it's really high.

thats because of gpuboost, probably
what card do you have

Use it in an AC cooled room or stop playing GPU intensive games.

Mine gets so hot that the computer crashes and powers off.  No idea on temperature.

a 660m
I cleaned out all the dust and stuff from the fans about a month ago
im also not using gpuboost atm, but when I was it didnt seem to make a difference

If you can fry an egg on your GPU it may be time to turn the computer off.

Thats the thing though
I restart it often and simply playing pretty much any game heats it up rediculously

Also heres my GPU temp while idling on the forums

depends on the hentai you're watching

Ever seen the video of Breakfest with NVidia? lol. They try to cook eggs with an NVidia graphics card.

Hodot is too hot, arg solved

depends on the hentai you're watching
I'm like 75% sure that fallout isn't hentai but I'll roll with it if it helps solve my problem
