Author Topic: I need a good image editor.  (Read 4324 times)

In specific, I need one that you can store on a flashdrive, and dont say Paint.NET because the framework just installs itself without selection of directories etc etc...

Something perhaps similar to photoshop, and also perhaps something that can make things REALLY smooth, like those flash program thingies..

Thanks in advance.

Yeah, The GIMP. Try Inkscape also, it's a vector image editor like Adobe Illustrator.

I've never found a good free equivalent to Flash. Um, I'm sure you can get Flash somewhat cheaper elsewhere on the internet.

Macromedia Fireworks, The same as flash except its an image editor.

I think the poster wants free programs, judging from when he mentions Photoshop and says Paint.NET doesn't work for him.

I would talk about serials, but thats warez and i've already been banned for over a month.

At Portable Apps there's a version of GIMP for flash drives.

I have Firefox, Abiword and Gnumeric installed directly onto the school system because they forgot to ban executable files.

If you rename any text file .vbs at my school then it becomes executable too. "Security".

I maintain that I could go in with a Linux LiveCD and modify their hard-drives directly.

At my school, you can use .com's, .bat's, .exe's and all sorts of executable files.

Thanks everyone, I'm using gimp right now. Kinda wierd compared to MSpaint.

He might buy it, you never know and Fireworks CS3 is the best one against photoshop.

How much does Fireworks run?

Meh, GIMP's interface is ice cream.  If you're mainly using Windows, I recommend Paint.NET.

Here are the instructions for making it portable (NOTE: It does make a couple registry entries to maintain window settings.):
