Author Topic: want start menu back on windows 8 try classic shell  (Read 1646 times)

bsods are your own fault (or the hardware), not windows
ok?
explain why they stopped in 8 then
my hardware is perfectly fine

Windows 8 is pretty great. Starts up faster, tends to run a bit better. Can't wait to upgrade to 8.1 on my good desktop.

Does 8.1 get rid of that pesky metro?

Does 8.1 get rid of that pesky metro?

no, unfortunately.

There are still some bad UI design decisions in 8.1, like how the start corner still overlays itself over the start bar (and the start button that's already on the bar).

Supposedly the next update (8.2? I dunno) is bringing the start menu back.

A patch for 8.1 is bringing the start menu back I thought.

Looks even better with a mix of metro. Imagine having just a few small tiles there for the more important stuff.

I actually really like the new Explorer shell.

Needs archive support and it'd be ideal.
I use StartIsBack to get the start menu and I'm really digging Windows 8.1 with it.
