Japan, fed up with the British occupation of India, performed a sneak attack against one of its inner port cities and simultaneously landed a small artillery battery on the welcoming population of Sri Lanka. Japan then gave Great Britain an ultimatum to evacuate the population and submit the city to Japan, or attack Japan and have them fire upon the besieged port.
Several Japanese crafts carrying hidden troops and vehicles were sunk by British personnel, however, before their doom was met via submarine.

Spain, answering to the call to arms of Germany, declared war on France. Their troops mobilized into southern France and some began their invasion of the British-held Strait of Gibraltar.
