Author Topic: Opinions on joke bomb threat  (Read 3248 times)

"Yes, let's punish teenagers as severely as possible for making jokes on the internet. Because that's what America is all about - grossly overreacting to every stupid little thing while blithely ignoring all of our REAL problems. We have truly lost all semblance of common sense."

The guy who said this is probably a terrorist.

how is aa supposed to get her ip, anyways

i'm pretty sure twitter doesn't randomly give out ips to big corporations

they were probably just trying to call her "bluff" as a publicity stunt
yeah how

also what an idiot

She should be banned from flying, but apparently they can't take a joke.

People are getting too overprotective these days - what she said is almost certainly a joke.

almost

This is the whole point.  Although it is likely a joke, there is still that sliver chance that it isn't.  Either risk a prankster getting in trouble or a terrorist attack.

I dont think you can just assume that someone is joking when they are talking about doing "something big" to an airlines

maybe they are planning a party

I don't blame the authorities for arresting her, as someone else said previously: "a threat is a threat". It's true, in this day and age risks can't be taken. Any measures should be used to prevent a dangerous situation from starting up.

They can't afford to, they take this stuff very seriously and they can't tell who's joking and who's not all the time
It's just like when someone brings a fake gun to school as a joke. REAL SCHOOL SHOOTINGS HAVE HAPPENED BEFORE and they have to take that kid's stupid joke seriously for security reasons

This is the reason why security is so ungodly tight nowadays.
People who make "joke threats" are part of the problem. You cant ignore a threat, even if it is a joke. You never know when it may be legit.

These people should be deported to the Middle East, where threats are fun.

"I was just joking and it was my friend not me"

I have no words. You deserve to be arrested and hunted down by the FBI.
