you're introducing a middleman into a context which needs no middleman

if you were to make the iAdapt and then be the only first-party developer for it's add-ons then people would just make tools that don't need to interface with the iAdapt and just connect directly to the iphone

which is exactly what they are doing already

The electronics just don't work like this, I think. Don't quote me on this, but I believe ports for this kind of thing on pretty much every modern phone has a diode so power doesn't flow backwards.

its completely useless, you can have a lightning to usb adapter and plug in a loving usb fan instead, 0/10

10/10 OP confirmed to be next steve jobs

Some power flows backwards, but only enough to send electrical signals to the computer - no where near enough to power anything worth powering.

I would vote thumbs up, but I'm too lazy to get a quirky account.

Same

great idea, lance

IIRC, iPhones (or any istuff) will not output power via the 30/9-pin plug. One way you could do this is using the headphone plug and play a high-pitched tone outputting a steady 5v.  But you can recieve a call and the output power will drop depending on the sound as it uses PWM.
