Author Topic: It's scary how often Blockland-related things get DDoS'd  (Read 1329 times)

Is it just me, or does pretty much everything Blockland-related get DDoS'd way, WAY more often than is normal? Surely there's only 2 or 3 people behind it; too bad we can't find them out.

They only do it because of posts like these.

Yeah but it's always been like the same 4 guys doing it. It's not like stuff loads of random people just come here to forget with us

I know. Considering DDoS is super-loving-illegal, if we find out who they are we could probably get them arrested if they live in a country with modern jurisdiction. Unfortunately, it's not that easy.

ManOfReason's been the main one behind the DDoSing, i don't think Lando and Thompson have done any DDoSing, at least, according to MaroonCacti and Pacha after they apologized for helping them

ManOfReason's a poser. leave him be and ignore him.

I don't think DDoSing is nearly as illegal as you think it is. I'm pretty sure the way the law is now, the most you could get is a fine or your internet shut down. You make it seem like you'd go to jail for DDoSing BL. You'd only go to jail if you DDoS'd something big.

i'm sure most online games with actual people on them probably deal with a decent amount of DDoSing

Main difference being most online games have more than one developer, server, coder, modeler, etc etc

Sooooo
Not nearly as significant

yeah but it still shows that blockland being targeted isn't out of the ordinary

not that it's a good thing

Yea but what about Ben?

Uh, Ddos is a federal crime in the US.
The maximum sentence for doing it is 10 years in prison.

It doesn't matter how big it is, you will go to jail.

Yes it does matter, do you think you will get a good lawyer to get someone in prison for free?

It's not a crime that the government prosecutes you for, it's a crime that you can be sued for. Like, when you kill someone the government prosecutes you for that murder, not the family of the murder victim. But when you steal something, the person you stole from prosecutes you for that larceny. DDoS is like the latter, where the victim has to front the cost for lawyers, court fees, etc. Most small-time web and game developers (which, let's face it, Badspot falls into) don't have the cash or spare time laying around to actually sue someone. Not to mention in a lot of cases DDoS attacks cross country lines (for example with Okiver) in which case Badspot (or anybody else) has no legal ground to stand on.

Online Jail if you do this!! Oh snap
