I guess I didn't think of it that way. My Spanish teacher always writes the date as DD/MM/YY. It confuses me a lot.

uh no that is how i represent the date
like in real life i would say "It's the 20th of April, 2014", which is 20/4/2014
i wouldn't say "It's the year 2014, April 20th", which is 2014/4/20
