it is about luck. i am the loving pro at that game. (expert in 45 seconds, world record stuff) and every game you are forced to guess about 2-3 times.
you have to be lucky that many times to complete a game.

Finally got a victory with the zoltan cruiser.  Got two scrap recovery arms and ion weapons early on so I ended up with a ton of scrap.  Got the drones for at the second to last store specifically for the boss fight.  Almost died in the first boss round when he hacked my weapons.  Pro tip: if the boss hacks your weapons just leave and come back.  Hacked weapons + cloak means you basically never get to shoot.  Nearly died figuring that out. 

protip: get cloning bay, get teleporter, get 2 zoltans, send zoltans aboard enemy ships to allah akbar enemy crew

Stealth weapon aug. is amazing if you have cloak. If cloak is maxed out, it gives you plenty of time to either charge up weapons or fire off a few rounds.

omg I feel like a handicap.
I forgot to ever purchase a cloning bay on my teleporter builds, so I'm always horribly scared of my guys dying. Did not realize this would work in that way. :I

i myself never played ftl but i've watched a few videos about it
the closest experience i had was playing "Organ Trail"
at least i think it's somewhat of a close experience

All you have to do in the very beginning is to find one of those spots that shows lots of numbers, and clicking them usually only takes 1 click. Rest of the game is using your head and if you fail at that i feel bad for you.
