Watched the first 4 minutes or so, turned it off because it was way too cringy
Then I saw everyone in this thread really liked it, so I gave it another chance and finished watching the whole thing
My honest opinion: It is not a good show, and I will not watch any more of it even if you say it's good. The remainder of the video I watched was not nearly as cringy as the first few minutes, and I do not despise the show, but it was far removed from "good". I actually did chuckle at the point where the fries went down the slide, but that was it. I was not bothered by the characters or their apparent mental illnesses, but they seemed to play straight into stereotypes without any deviation. That's pretty much why I found the fries sliding down amusing, it was the only thing that was not 100% predictable
It wasn't terrible and like I said I don't hate it, but it was just unfunny and devoid of meaning, uninteresting. Don't tell me you didn't see the "oh I guess I had fun after all in the playpen ok lets be friends again now" coming a mile away. Everyone (here and in yt comments) seems to think it's good directly compared to the ads they put out about it. That's a really stupid way to judge something. "well it's not nearly as bad as it could be, therefore it's a great show!" It's the magic of expectations: they market it as a stuffty show and then everyone is surprised when it turns out to be 65% assed instead of half.
I'll also directly compare this show to Rick and Morty, even though they're clearly aimed at two different audiences (which also may be why I find no value in clarence). For Rick and Morty, someone also made a thread like this on the BLF saying "Rick and Morty is actually a pretty good show!". I had seen a few promos for the show and was not very impressed. It just didn't grab my attention. I clicked on the link in the OP anyway, because I had maybe half an hour before I had to leave for work and thought I would watch maybe 3 minutes, form my opinion and then come back to it later if it was decent. Within the first minute of the episode I was hooked (Rick burst in to Morty's room drunk, iirc). It was engaging enough for me to watch the entire thing, even though I had planned to do other stuff in that half hour. That's the main reason that I think clarence is stuffty: there's nothing engaging. The characters appear to be skin deep, there's very little relevant humor and the cringe factor is too high for me to enjoy it.
