Author Topic: Halberd - A Blockland Dropship - <4/29/2014 Interior Update!>  (Read 4958 times)

I'm currently working on a drop ship, which, as far as I know, will be the largest flying vehicle in Blockland. Here are some screen shots of current progress to keep y'all excited:

See those roosterpits? Each will hold a Blockhead. ;)

This is a WIP, so some (or many) things are liable to change or be added. I still have the entire interior to do, but (minus weapons, except for the two giant cannons on the front) the exterior is basically done. I may add some fine details and also fix some face issues that pop up, of course.

With any luck, this ship will have turrets. I'll cross that bridge when I get there, though. Anyway, feel free to point things our or make suggestions.

Update: 4/22/2014

So, I just made a few changes to the ship. I'll let the pictures do most of the talking.

Updated cannon coloring.

Pilot's roosterpit!

Anti-grav thrusters.

Wing things.

Tail fin, just 'cause.

Here's the turret. One will be positioned under each wing.

Update: 4/29/2014

Interior! Nowhere near done, mind you. I also lowered and squished down the cabin slightly (not pictured).
Front.

Rear.

That is.. amazing. Although I think Boom's Pelican was bigger.

Is that an original design?

Aw... Might just have to scale it up, lol.

Yes, completely original. Just turned on my tunes, got out the default cube, and had this baby cranked out and hour and a half later.

Could you link me to Boom's Pelican? I can't seem to find it...

Pretty neat animating.

Pretty neat animating.
...But I haven't animated anything yet.

Horrible idea to make giant vehicles. The interiors of them usually are non-existant or poorly executed, and the third person view in a vehicle of that size would just be awkward, lest we forget the vehicle controls on the thing. And the moment it hits something it will spin to oblivion.

Just because it hasn't been done right yet doesn't mean it can't be.

I won't half-do the interior. I don't like things that are half-done.

Third person doesn't have to be awkward. Also, I'm likely going to add the pilot's roosterpit closer to the center of the craft, on the top. It won't be awkward at all.

Believe it or not, it is possible to work around much of the glitchiness in Blockland's physics. I've done it before, I can do it again. It just takes a bit of fine tuning. Anyway, that's not a good reason to not make it - speed karts are some of the glitchiest vehicles in the game when it comes to physics, and yet they're default. Larger size doesn't mean worse physics.

You better make it have amazing health and weapons and not a 3 shot kill like other 'large' vehicles

Vehicle_Enterprise was bigger. Much bigger.

I think you should reconsider some of the design elements in it
like it looks like it's meant to go 500 mph and imo the double roosterpits at the front don't look too good
other than that i really like the engines and wing design

After consideration last night, I decided in not done with the exterior yet. Here's what I still plan to add:

Center roosterpit: slightly larger, in the middle, and set back and up from the other two. Those roosterpits will control the large cannons on the front.

More guns: a no brainer, really.

Some downward-facing thrusters - this way it will be more believable that it can hover.

Also - who to say a dropship wouldn't be able to possibly go 500mph? This one won't, of course, but I'm just saying. It's also ok for something to look "fast" but not necessarily go fast. Usually that means it's more aerodynamic than usual, and there's nothing wrong with making something aerodynamic and slow.

Omg that amazing, it will flying?

No, it's going to be a submarine.

Was expecting this:
