Also one time when I was a child I had an owl standing on the ledge of my window. It was hooting at me through the glass at like 4 AM and it scared me stuffless.
Its the whole reason that I have a slight owl phobia now.

At my dad's house my fan literally sounds like a muffled conversation. It has to do with white noise and the brain interpreting sound.
It also doesn't help that it's an old house and creaks and pops a lot.
