Author Topic: Buying a car  (Read 1866 times)

So I've finally started to learn to drive, and I've got about £2,000 saved for a car/insurance/road tax/lessons.
I'm not a huge car fan but tonight I'll be looking on cars to buy. I'm looking for a standard 'first car', preferably a black/red/dark blue car (no ugly colours) and at least a standard speaker system.
If anyone could give me advice on nice British 'first cars' then it'd be appreciated.
And no, a Ford KA is not a nice car.

Get a Honda. Hondas make good first cars.

Or a vdub.

Get something that you would be comfortable driving, like a car with good enough trunk space, feet space, etc.
Do you want automatic or manual?

Yes, but he should get a manual. More fun and better MPG.

Sorry for not contributing, just had to be said.

Don't get a black car unless you want it to be 50x hotter in the summer

In England pretty much 95% of all first cars are manual.

My friend has a VW Golf and says its drives pretty well. It's this but his is a really nice dark red colour.
