Ok, I get it, instead you want this vitrol-filled discussion to spill out into another thread entirely instead of remaining contained here. Makes sense.

if anyone hosts a server that i want to join and simultaneously is running the guns, regardless of whether or not i like the guns if i enjoy the rest of the server i'm going to have to deal with the stuff guns and, potentially, a host who doesn't know better
also seriously someone explain to me the circumstances behind that one time badspot started banning dudes for saying 'don't play on that server'. that line's been dropped like 4 times and i wanna know if that counts for anything
any time someone was banned for that it would be because someone made a drama about bad admins or something
in this case: don't play on that server. and did you really just say "a host who doesn't know better"? I can't believe you called takato pretentious

that's not pretentious

if someone makes a server running the flak cannon, the battlefield 3 pack, various swords, the compound bow and the chainsaw all in tandem and all at once unironically then- in the explicit context of weapon choice and unifying themes- he most likely does not know better

like he doesn't have any predilection toward or against a unifying theme because the question has likely never come up

he's not wrong for doing so, it's a sandbox game and mechanically he can do whatever he wants, but it's still sort of like letting an intern start mixing chemicals in a lab unsupervised

one might say that his anger cannot be scaled
omfg this is the best pun 2014

except chemicals can actually hurt things...
it's like giving someone the choice to paint whatever they want with whatever mediums they want. and then you come in and tell them they can't use watercolors and oil on the same canvas because you don't like how it looks (despite the fact that they do, and plenty of other people) and it's gonna ruin the rest of art for you when a lot of other people do something that they like to do

and you are being pretentious. this entire argument is you being pretentious

that implies that the metaphorical artist actually knows or cares what they're doing

if server hosts consistently used all of these weapons together in a way that indicates that there was thought put into it then it'd be different, but the people who would use blatantly off-model weapons in the first place blend whatever the forget together simply because it looks cool

the paint-metaphor equivalent would be someone getting a bunch of oils, watercolors, and acrylics and then attempting to finger paint

that implies that the metaphorical artist actually knows or cares what they're doing
you're right, it does. because they do. they're using oil and watercolors because they like it. it doesn't matter whether or not they originally did it for a reason, they continue to do it because they like it

Bushido is making good points.  With the addition of speedkart (speaking aesthetically) and the new doors (post-JVS), Badspot clearly shows favor to a simplistic style that we all recognize as "blocky."  The models by Takato are not bad.  They are in fact good models, but not at all suitable for Blockland.  Bushi has pretty much always been heated over avant-garde content.

Actually, Night Fox has a fair point about my recent stuff.

My earlier vehicles were direct rip-offs of Kaje's style, then I decided to go overboard. I'm still trying to find a way back, but I also need something to set apart my stuff from the others.

Also, the Scorpius was made by Tophius, and it's a really neat car.
I just wanted to point out this to everyone. Barnabas admits his vehicles are overboard. Not brown nosing or anything, I think the vehicles are overboard with smoothing groups. If Takato could have this perspective and not hold his ears tight to the big bad community telling him what to do and actually take criticism then most of the argument in this thread wouldn't have occurred. Instead of acknowledging most of the criticism given to his over-detailed models he just acknowledges the one guy who says, "hey i like all kinds of weapons!"

but more to the point, what do you mean you disagree that blockland is a bunch of toys

that's a toy

there's no way that can't not be a toy

that's like pointing at a tyrannosaurus and saying I DISAGREE THAT IS A TYRANNOSAURUS

what the forget like even if you do disagree that doesn't change the fact that, objectively, that it's a forgetin tyrannosaurus

I never said it wasn't a loving toy, I was talking about the idea of an invisible child (the user) playing with the toys; not that we're the child making them move but rather that we are OURSELVES the minifigs and they move on their own. Toy Story logic, basically, is my thinking behind it.

i do think your weapons are stuffty actually because they're basically just a big dumb deviantart-tier thing (as previously stated) but that doesn't actually have anything to do with the statement. like you can take it as me saying that your stuff is stuff but i was using stuff as an extreme example in order to facilitate the metaphor

A couple years ago I would've agreed with you  because that's literally what I used to do, I'd just slap the models into a cookie-cutter code and saying "hey gaiz look how cool this looks next to me". But I've done away with that, I've actually started putting thought into the coding, function, execution, balancing, etc of my content.

actually, here. if the issue is that you think that the blockland aesthetic is wrong then let's focus on your idea of the blockland aesthetic and i will tell you why i think it's flawed (and, actually, why i'm suspicious that it's something you made up on-the-spot so you'd have a good excuse as to why you are being such a hardheaded douche) so that you may better yourself while continuing to be 'unique' and hang out with all the other 'unique' guys in 'unique'town 'U'.S.A.

But your weapons have the same kind of design factors going on, I just use more of them (sometimes too many, as you pointed out with the KzR)

getting into too much detail, still garishly colored, why would blockheads make perpendicular RYNO-grip if they canonically cannot forgetin bend their arms inward

(plus, it sounds like someone went through the forgetin greek alphabet to find a letter that had a cool-sounding name)

SiGMa is a loving acronym, starfish, it's pronounced "Seeg-mah" and stands for "Searing Gatling Machine". It's also a little old and there are a few things I would change on it. But seriously, blockhead's hands loving FLOAT, they can do whatever the hell they want with their hands because they loving levitate from telekinesis.

Quote

ridiculous overly-precise detail work that pushes the suspension of disbelief that a race with hands that are constantly locked into a C-position could even attempt to approach the finesse necessary to fabricate

(plus, it sounds like someone went through the forgetin english alphabet to find several cool sounding letters that they could mash together into a cool sounding 'abbreviation')

I didn't make up the name. This was a remake of someone else's weapon, and I already said it looked like stuff and I was going to change it.

that's a fuckin LASER KNIFE ARE YOU SERIOUS WHY WOULD ANYONE INVENT THESE

IT WAS ALREADY STUPID COATING A GUN'S FIRING CRYSTAL IN NORMAL KNIVES WHY WOULD YOU GO THROUGH THE EFFORT OF MAKING A KNIFE MADE OF forgetIN MAGIC SCIENCE LASERS

Dude, calm the forget down, it's just a loving bayonette, bayonettes are still useful for close quarters combat no matter how far in the future it is :/

you don't have to use those add-ons. the people who like them can use them, it doesn't bother you
You can't dismiss the unfitting style of the add-ons just because people like them. Just because a few people like eating stuff doesn't mean your stuff tastes like actual food. "You don't have to use those add-ons" is exactly one of the problems and it does bother people. A bigger quality add-on pool is a good thing. instead of applying the stupid "well if YOU don't like it don't use it!" logic, maybe add-on makers should make their add-ons not only appeal to a select group of stuffeaters, but appeal to people who eat quality food as well.
I can't believe you called takato pretentious
this i can sort of agree with lol. i wish i could find the quotes where he basically says he 'redefined ammo in blockland' and 'fostered blockland combat as we know it'.

i will agree that 14-to-maybe-early-17 year old me was pretty pretentious.

if you were to sit me down with me from two years into the past we'd be in a fistfight instantly

if someone likes to eat stuff who cares? if the majority of people like to eat stuff, it doesn't matter because you aren't being forced to eat it
even if literally all the food chefs made was stuff, you could still hunt and cook your own food if you didn't want to eat stuff. which is comparable to making your own add-ons
but not every add-on maker makes realistic weapons. those who do, make them because they like them. they are going to make what they want to make, and there is nothing wrong with that

if someone likes to eat stuff who cares? if the majority of people like to eat stuff, it doesn't matter because you aren't being forced to eat it
But I have to sit in the same room with these idiots eating stuff and that's just disgusting.

no you don't, in fact, you have the option to make your very own room with any options and add-ons you want
