Snapchat: itstrinickI can't speak for Kik, but snapchat has one major advantage over anything else: timed photos. It's also a different environment than any other method of sending an image. With snapchat you send someone a picture and you don't expect a response. If you send someone a picture via text message, you're starting a conversation about that picture. You can send snapchats to 35 people and not have to deal with 35 people replying "Nice."
1. What do you mean timed pictures? That annoying as forget thing where you can only view the picture for a few seconds? When I realized that was what snapchat was, I stopped using it. What's the point?

1. It provides a system where you don't have to worry about the extent your pictures will travel. I know that if I take a picture of myself smoking hookah and send it to all my friends, it's not going to end up on facebook where my parents and family could see it. It's essentially an anti-drama mechanism. Also, nudes.2. I don't want responses because I'm doing whatever I thought was snapchat worthy. It's a way to share with friends what you're up to without engaging a conversation about it-- you can talk about it later.
