Author Topic: Looking for a birthday mic  (Read 529 times)

Yeah, /title

I need a microphone for my birthday. It CANNOT be a killer 500 dollar king of the kings, just a cheap mic under 200 dollars.

Also, I don't want a headset, really, I have so many of those.

a mic under 200 dollars whaaaat
Are you wanting to produce music?!

The Snowball is pretty good

i have a copy of fl studio and ableton so, yes. i have a couple friends who can sing good too.

but actually, i need it for mainly duolingo, skype, presentations, and for google hangouts.

Shure SM57 or 58. The 58 is probably tailored more towards vocals, but for either one you're going to need an XLR cable (and obviously something that will support it).

excuse me while i kill myself. i am an idiot and i think i'm either getting that or the blue yeti. i called my brother about it, and he says that he changed his mind and it's a great mic. he also said that if i got it he'd give me an xlr cable and xlr to usb.

thanks for the suggestion but my brother has the SM57 and he says that it's a pain in the butt to use, and i've seen what he means. as well, the fact that it needs an xlr cable, no thank you.

Its a regular mic lol. It's only a pain to use if you don't have the materials, in which case it wouldn't even be useable. It literally a plug and use mic. For the $100 it costs, grab an audio interface, then you can actually start producing things.

Hell, Amazon sells the 58 with an XLR to USB converter:
