How does my history of being a problem user have much to do with this topic? You speak as if I do not have the right to give advice about hosting services just because of my past.

I think he meant you can't give advice about hosting services because yours is stuff.

I dont think so. He has done pretty well considering everything that has gone wrong. It's amazing HammerEditor is still willing to push through it all just for this community.

because yours is stuff.
The network failures and high ping (which are all now completely resolved) might have been caused by this:

http://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2014/05/level-3-claims-six-isps-dropping-packets-every-day-over-money-disputes/
...and my ping to "NewYork2.Level3.net" was 180 ms. instead of 13.

Don't forget that running HammerHost is very challenging because I am responsible for the hardware and network. I am at the mercy of the ISP. Of course the first 1-2 months will be shaky.

You referring to his ddosing of his competitors or how he tries to run this stuff from his bedroom

tries to run this stuff from his bedroom
The reason I chose to home-host is because my ISP has generally been very reliable and fast. Unfortunately, the recent network failures were completely unexpected, and were not what Verizon usually is like.
The CPU fan failure was also quite random: I know this would have not happened if the system was in a datacenter, but would you seriously expect a computer fan to be the most likely point of failure? You'd get the same odds of it failing in a tower server in, say, an office.

ddosing of his competitors
That was last year and does not affect my current hosting service at all. And I did not actually "DDoS"; it was Okiver framing me for the second attack, just because I did the first DoS.

Alright if we can just leave Hammers stuffty service out of my topic, that'd be great.

Anyone know a good VPS for Blockland Hosting? I would like to host again soon but this service will obviously not be done for quite awhile, so anyone know a good VPS for below $15?

Also found someone who will be working on the panel/systems but will not be announcing who until I have something to show.

nfo servers and briansmith

  • Someone who knows their way around Web Design and Security for a website/panel.
  • Scripting everything that needs to be done for the server to communicate with the panel.
  • Tech Support.
  • And just generally someone who knows how to set this stuff up on a datacenter because I do not know how this works.
If someone was doing all this I don't see why we would need you to take all the credit/be the one running it..

I don't know, maybe because I would be paying for the server out of my own pocket.
Oh yes because server hosting is sooo expensive... that we need investors.. Someone with all that experience really needs your $15..
