Other than school population wise its just like a normal highschool. Yes, some highschools have metal detectors and such.

I'm gonna have to agree with Flat, the education system is pathetic here compared to other countries by standards and the way kids are taught here. It's why I plan on moving to either Denmark, New Zealand or Canada when I am older.

just avoid schools around canada with a "learning stratigies" class unless you want to do nothing for a hour and a half.

I think those are called Montessori Schools, and we have them here too. Usually the curriculum isn't structured, but it is good for the younger students. If I do stay in America though, I would move to Alaska or to the west coast and if I had kids I'd only send them to private school.
