it was probably left out there because the owner could not outsmart bullet

"hey shadow! Wanna see my hammer collection? I just need to borrow a metal object"

I thought it was illegal for civilians to use hollow point ammo

Thank goodness you're not in law enforcement

otherwise you'd be taking everyone down over rules that don't exist universally in every area

In order to fully disarm it, I would need to set it in a vice and hammer a small rod/pin onto the bullet to fire the cap (obviously after the powder has been emptied).

Not necessary

Actually, he'd probably learn which rules are in effect in the process of becoming law enforcement.

I know a guy that, as a kid, would throw bullets at the ground with his mates so they'd pop off.
How he is alive today I don't know.

Seriously? That's ridiculously stupid.

Because pliers didn't exist when he was a child, I assume?

I swallow 1/4 cup of assorted bullets and then go MX stunt racing.

I can only imagine what would happen if someone swallowed a bunch of bullets and then walked into a lab with those gigantic magnets.

That would be a glorious way to die. Sign me up.

So you found some ammunition on the ground, you have no idea who the owner is, where it came from, or why it's there
and your first thought is "Gee, on my way to school, I should pick this up and then disassemble it when I get home, rendering the bullet completely useless!"

Things you apparently did NOT consider:
If you're on school wifi, they can see your browsing, and they will frown upon that image
If someone found that bullet on your person, regardless of where you live you would be suspended, minimum of 1 day
It's more dangerous in your backpack than it was on the curb
Throwing it away in a garbage can is 1% of the effort with 99% of the same exact effect: bullet gone
It could be a part of a crime/case. I don't care where you live, crime is never non-existent, and I'm sure SOMEONE around where you live has a gun and some bad intentions. If that's a piece of evidence you just picked up, that may have suspect DNA on it, or be vital information for tracking down a criminal.

Or maybe you just picked up a bullet and made a big deal about it on the forums like you just found a live bomb that could explode at any minute.

Probably some Sureno punk dropped it often flashing his pistol at a rival gang member.

you really dodged a bullet there
