Because Chrome had an update that didn't allow me to change what shows up on a new tab so I went to Firefox because it used to be a better alternative.

Nothing has changed on the Linux version. Hopefully it will stay that way. If you aren't happy with Chrome or Firefox, then try out Chromium. All the Chrome, but none of the Google. Idk if it allows for custom new tab pages though.
