Author Topic: Does such a device exist?  (Read 896 times)

Yesterday I wanted to record a NFSU race to show off with some of my friends that say I suck at playing racing games. I couldn't use Shadowplay because I don't meet the minimum CPU, Hypercam didn't record the game and Fraps crashes on startup. Does a recording device that gathers VGA input, saves it on an SD card/USB drive and outputs the same VGA input to the screen exist? As in, I plug my PC's VGA output to the recorder's VGA input, plug in a storage device in it and plug the VGA output of the device to my monitor.

TL;DR

Around what prices? External or internal? What resolutions? Storage media?

I suggest Elgato game capture HD
I need it for PC. This is for consoles; Has to capture VGA. No HDMI output.

Ignore Espio, he has no idea how anything but drugs work in the world.

i know VGA capture cards exist, because i'm p sure danoct1 uses/is planning on using one

as for outputting to a storage device, i'm p sure you would need to do that on your computer through software

regardless of if it outputs back or not, you could just use a VGA splitter to send to your monitor

It doesn't matter how it works. All I need itto do is to record input (and save the recorded video) from my VGA while I can see it through my monitor be it a splitter cable or a relay.

At the cost of some capture cards, you might as well just upgrade your CPU so you can use Shadowplay
What CPU do you even have? It shouldn't require much, considering the whole point of Shadowplay is that the GPU does all the work

AMD Sempron 3200 Single Core 1GHz.

Yeah, whatever money you would spend on a capture card would be better used going towards a CPU upgrade.

If I upgrade this CPU, I'd need to upgrade the mobo as well. I was trying to avoid that until I get enough money to buy this.

An external PVR meant for game footage capture. It's great for $170.
No VGA dammit.

How to Record PC Gameplay using Elgato Game Capture HD

also a VGA to HDMI converter exists

And I'm trying to avoid that. I'm guessing that a pure VGA recorder doesn't exist.
