Author Topic: Having trouble removing adware from friend's tablet.  (Read 796 times)

So I noticed a browser hijacker called safesear.ch on my friend's dell tablet but it's been a pain to remove. I have tried anything, multiple anti-malware, Adwcleaner, JWR, norton, tdsskiller, malwarebytes, deleted rogue files and reset his browser. All the programs say his computer is clear but his browser is still redirecting to the malware. What else should I do, or should we go ahead and wipe his tablet? He would actually be fine with that since it's brand new and he doesn't have much on it.

What is it redirecting from to the malware? Check browser homepage and default search engine.

Browser home page is Google and the default engine is Bing.

That is usually the easiest way to get rid of them.

Windows 7.
Windows 7 on a tablet? Anyway, try reverting back to a restore point or unninstall suspicious programs...

I remember having a virus that disguised the main search engine as bing, try switching it

Check DNS settings in Network & Sharing > Adapter Properties.

back up the important data (if there is any)
wipe it
put the important data back on
if it persists just do a wipe again and forget about your data.
