Author Topic: Quick/Easy way to reduce video size  (Read 573 times)

I was trying out Fraps on this system and the results were good. Except that it's a 5 minute video, 400x300 and its file size is around 800MBs. How can I reduce this to the 400MBs or lower?

best idea is to stop using fraps
(seriously)

Just throw the video into Windows Movie Maker and export it. The version doesn't matter.

Don't have Windows Movie Maker.

Since fraps is made to record real time footage, it pretty much can't compress it.

I recorded 30 minutes of Black Mesa once on accident and it was over 50 gigabytes

Movie Maker doesn't always come with a windows PC.

I use Windows. WMM didn't come with my install.

I don't know exactly what changes have happened since I last downloaded it, but it has been pretty useful to me.

Going to give it a try.

The amount of bullstuff the installer tries to add is too damned high.
