Furdle, the only reason we kept the snake in the first place was because my little brother wanted to keep him. My parents said yes, because there would be little to no cost involved (thankfully we found enough food during the winter). It was pretty much accepted that we wouldn't be taken to the vet - if he died, he died. It's not like we didn't care about him, but it's not like he was a child or a family dog; he was just a random snake found in the grass. Regardless, there still wouldn't have been enough time to take him to the vet - he died overnight.
