gj falling for a painfully obvious scam

Wow, that was really really anticlimactic. I thought you were the buyer so I was totally on his side the whole time like yeah this sellers a richardface for not letting him try the key out then my world flipped upside down when the seller started shouting that he got ripped off.

Yea I was pretty much a handicap lol.

I was a victim of a social engineering attack (luckily lost nothing permanently; i swear it only happened because i knew i'd be safe in the event it happened but still), but this attempt had red flags all over it.

Just a tip: If someone is willing to wait a decent amount of time for you to go first/something (which you should never no matter what unless you actually can do something IRL aka they aren't a faceless person), they probably really want to scam you.

Most importantly, learn from this scam to not get scammed out of say a bank account or anything that you can't just recuperate from. Also, better yet, avoid stuff like this altogether as much as possible and just don't tell him your real email and use mailinator/a backup email (if you did, you're still probably fine since he'd be too busy enjoying the game he stole to spam your email or any other stuff).
