Author Topic: Kalphiter's latest and stupidest rant  (Read 43634 times)

I'm going to agree with Heedicalking - its ridiculous. I think all people see is "Kalphiter" and they join the bandwagon of hate. I've been a supporter of Kalphiter for a little while now and it seems like a trend to blindly hate him even if he makes intelligent, fact-based points.

Kalphiter and Pacnet started out similar. They were decent until they felt wronged by Blockland, so then somebody had to suffer

I don't really see what he did wrong here. Just because he's a rejected user posting in a different Blockand board means all of his points are invalid and he's just another idiot complaining about nothing? Please, Ephialtes posted nearly the exact same thing Kalphiter just did and everyone was so quick to suck up and agree to him. Everything Kalphiter posted was logical and had completely accurate points and you're sitting here trashing him just because he's a rejected user of the community. Rethink your standards people.

how do we know that badspot isnt working on something new that requires a few months of work?
iirc he's hinted at this

Heed makes some good points, Kalph is right. The development is slow at the moment, but that is slightly understandable considering Badspot is somewhat on his own right now.

The steam launch was terrible, Steam users are going to have a pain when they're not-so-new and they're trying to get a hosting service. Now I do not mean to bring RTB up, but remember what Ephi said? He said the steam launch was unplanned and outright bad. My guess is he was hoping the new Steam users would get to his service, giving him money. Did that happen? No. Instead Steam users are better off buying it on the website than Steam, at least they aren't so restricted.

Now let's step aside and ask, why did our huge influx of Steam players drop? During the first week or so we had nearly 800 players playing at once. Look at the number on a Saturday night, or any night, 200-300. That's a huge drop. Why did they just say, screw this I'll go play something else? How come we could not hold onto them? Are we lacking features? Is the game not fun?

For the record, Badspot has stated his reasons for the slowdowns in development, simply because he's tired of doing it. I don't blame him; I get bored of working on something even for as long as a month, and I commend him for making it this far.

Even then, Blockland is mainly a content-based community-driven game. Asking 1-3 people to make all of what we have now that came out of the community is definitely a bit much. The add-on system exists for a reason.

Admittedly, Blockland isn't for everyone. When all there is to do in the game is join DM servers, RP, or build, it's easy to get bored quickly if you aren't creative, don't like building in general, or can't focus on projects for very long.

Now this makes sense. But what I'm trying to grasp is, is there a way we can keep players? Adding in new content, something to keep them fueled for the game. Maybe Badspot could start adding in more community add-ons, like slayer or something? It'd mean less work for him, but more content for players. Plus with our Add-Ons system they're always disable-able.

We need workshop, as some, if not, alot of the steam players probaly dont know how to install add-ons.
It would probably make them be more interested in playing in single player toying with new items and bricks

Even though i think it may work well, steam's overlay is slow as balls (even on my gaming comp). Maybe better workshop integration? ingame UI for listing things in workshop are a few suggestions if baddy ever does implement workshop.

to add on the first 'paragraph', it would also get them hooked onto the game better.

nobodies complaining about badspot not making official add-ons. no stuff we have an add-on system, we're complaining about him not fixing what we can't fix with the add-on system. asking 1-3 people who've went to college, studied computer programming, and made a living off mainly programming to actively fix and develop the game (you know, their job) isn't that hard to ask. it's been two god-damn years, it's not like we're asking all this stuff to be made in a month.

No this ISN'T what we need. in fact, this is the complete OPPOSITE of what we need. Pulling a notch and putting in community features as default content is a garbage idea. Take time to think this over. If badspot adds Slayer as a default add-on, that means slayer is now stuck in the same development hell as the rest of the game. It's now up to Badspot to keep slayer updated with the game, unless he wants to put Greek2Me's name in the credits and give him the ability to send updates to everyone in the game whenever he wants.
Now take this idea and compound it with more and more community made content and we have even more add-ons that get stuck in the hell.

It's sad that you even suggested such a thing. "Why doesn't badspot just take more time off and throw in stuff other people make!". A lot of you fail to grasp that we don't need more add-ons. You have to understand that badspot's the only person in charge of actually adding new features to the game. This means things like elevators/moving parts, updated physics, technic bricks, buildable vehicles, environment zones, decals across servers, functional helicopters, bit cap, and hack patches are all up to him. If you want those things to exist and function well, then they can't just be made as add-ons.

That's my complaint with the game. I don't care about add-on distribution, I don't care about default add-ons, I don't care about if we have 10000 players or 100, I don't care what kind of add-ons people are making, I don't care what server are up, I don't care about all this stuff that players can fix by getting off their ass. I care about the things that only BADSPOT can fix and he's NOT getting off his ass.

Instead we get a bunch of sweet talking and hype about a "big future" that is "bigger than a copy of unity" and none of that happens. There is so much potential this game has and nothing's being done with it. Moving parts and technic like bricks haven't even been explored yet. Environments have a bunch of potential and they are still limited too. A mission editor with brushes to sculpt brick terrain would be awesome. Building vehicles has been a dream for like 5+ years. The game isn't even close to what it could be, and the only person who can change that is badspot.

Now this makes sense. But what I'm trying to grasp is, is there a way we can keep players? Adding in new content, something to keep them fueled for the game. we don't need to make existing things default, we want updates with actual content like we were promised. why do we need to keep players? the money is still there. it doesn't matter if the people are.

kalph had 10 bans and was shunned from the community long before steam.
he just didnt pretend to care till now.

Kalphiter is a 'Rejected' user in these forums but.

I find that he makes some valid points in this 'Rant' of his, but that doesn't mean I neccessarily agree with all of it.

For instance, let's take the 'Badspot is no longer doing his fair of work for the game' and ask.. Why..

Why isn't Badspot doing his fair share of work, this awnser has been staring Kalphiter in the face this entire time.

Badspot is just tired of dealing with the same things, over and over again, trying to keep the community from starting wars with eachother, coding for a game which the community always asks for more and more instead of trying to do something themselves, (I mean sure, Add-on's are a thing but they aren't major additions to the game for the most part.) and finally, dealing with negativity from people like Kalphiter, who went out of his way to create a Reddit page named 'BlocklandIsHorrible' only to use it as a loaded gun in an attempt to spark hate towards him for him to have a reason to call this community 'Bad' when he's the one causing the community's hatred torward's him.

I also want to point out, that Kalphiter promotes other people HARRASING historically problematic users as is shown below in one of his many rant's about the community and the game.

This is behavior that should never lead to someone being an accepted member in this community, so as we can all see here, Kalphiter is being a straight-out starfish to Hammereditor due to his problematic past in this community.

I've posted another picture down below showing him bad-mouthing Hammereditor and.. Possibly Ephiliates

I am sorry my dear Blocklanders, but is this someone we want to support in his efforts..?

Consider this a formal complaint about Kalphiters' actions and douchyness.

why can't we just get another developer
or would another worker cost too much

Kalph doesn't deserve stuff, he left
BDX and Pacnet are just freeloading on Kalph's stuff because they have no real arguments to bring up.
