New Horizons
What this is:
New Horizons is an in-development forum game focused on conquering, exploring, and fighting other people in space. Most of the game will be spent inside a Spaceship (which there are many types of) and spent exploring, and gaining riches to develop your empire and conquer other empires.
Story:
Long ago, the blocklanders faced a crCIA. The star, BLK-339 (Blockland's mother star) was growing too large. The blocklanders were forced to expand into space. On a remote planet, they discovered an alien device that gave them the knowledge to create complex starships and a whole plethora of space-related stuff. After many years of civilization, the blocklanders once again faced a crCIA. A mass invasion caused the civilization to split apart into different parts of the universe, which would never meet again until far in the future.
Today, 3 different known Blockland Civilizations exist.
Blockhead Manufacturing Corp. - The BMC is a massive corporation in producing military grade blockhead androids. They looove money, and don't care how they obtain it.
Blockdari - A war-loving empire full of political and military scandals. One of their many favorite activities is getting into fights for no specific reason. (if you get the reference, then you are a wizard)
Nomadri- a bunch of autistic space kiddies that are lost in space
They don't usually settle down on planets or anything, they enjoy exploring.
Note: You CAN create your own empire/civilization, however I'm only allowing two player created empires. Before the game gets started, I'll pick the ones that will be in the game. (leave your empire submission below)
Core Mechanics
- IGC (Intergalactic Currency): The "money" in the game. Will be awarded through player-created missions.
- Research: Research new ships and things. Will have a tech tree of sorts.
- Science: Develop new ship engines and destructive-as-forget weapons.
- Player-driven Missions: Players can assign tasks to other players for IGC and items.
- Item Trading/Marketplace: Trade your rare loot for other rare loot or IGC.
Ship Types
Will be updated frequently with new types periodically.
Cruisers - Basic space-navigating crafts. Used for light travel, and exploration of planets. Not very reliable in combat.
Carriers - Used for delivering items across long distances. Can carry other ships in onboard hangars. Sticks out like a sore thumb to pirates.
IGTVs (Intergalactic Transit Vehicles) - Extremely fast travel between long distances. Commonly used to deliver troops. Very vulnerable to attack.
Battlecruisers - Heavier-armored variant of standard cruisers with better weapons. Your go-to fighting vehicle. Still lacks in defense.
Space-Tugs - A Carrier's best friend. Can transport Carriers much faster than they can travel alone. Equipped with some security features to keep those pirates at bay.
Destroyers - Even beefier combat vehicle than Battlecruisers. Heavy, large ships with weapons strong enough to take down large space stations. High offense, low defense.
Bulk-fighters - Slow, brutal, artillery-firing juggernauts. Have really tough armor to punch through, and can bombard planets with ease. High offense and defense, but tend to be really slow.
Motherships - Mobile super-fortresses. Can deploy many fighters to the battlefield and provide artillery.
Planet Drivers - Moon-sized ships that usually serve as the spearhead in any fleet. Really expensive, hard to develop, but are completely worth it as they have incredible weapons capable of decimating groups of fighters in one hit, and can wipe out entire colonies on planets.
