in seriousness though, I think you should make sure you give serious consideration before going through with the decision to do that stuff

it will have some permanent ramifications on your life, that could be good or bad, regardless of how hard you try to disassociate it from your personal life

There are many bad decisions people can make. research might be one of em. But I see thousands of socially acceptable bad decisions being made by everyone every day. Much worse ones then being in research.

research is bad because it's love related I'm assuming? I mean that's a silly single aspect of life to judge so harshly over.
Parents are a caring you guys well to feel so uncomfortable about it.
