Author Topic: I am going to be learning how to bike this weekend!  (Read 2304 times)

My bike sucks
It's a mountain bike and supposedly has gears and every time I change them no matter what it feels like I'm pedaling up a hill

I learned to ride a bike in my kitchen, lol. My Dad had taken me down to the park to practice but I didn't make any progress and I was so disappointed when I got home that I locked myself in the kitchen and kept trying to pedal from one end to the other without falling over. Took me an hour or two but I was loving elated when I finally managed to do it.

Speaking of bikes I just got a 26" Trek 860 a few weeks ago and I love it

everyone post your bikes now pls

Some $80 mountain bike. Brand doesn't matter anymore because its tore up. Brakes don't work worth a damn, gear shifters broke, gear box broke so I tore it off, etc. Point is I still ride it, taking it on a long trip on friday to a buddies party.

Also best of luck OP, DONT SLAM THE FRONT BREAKS.

My older brother gored his chin doing that, had to be rushed through A&E for disinfection and some stitches

I know how to bike but I don't hardly ever do it

Same here.  Nowhere to go.

Shouldve tucked n rolled. I've slammed my front brakes, hit ditches that flipped me, etc, never once have I suffered that much damage.
Tuck and roll kids, tuck and roll. It'll help

(who wants bloody pictures of what happened after I wrecked my bike in the gravel?)

If you have a large enough yard or something you could try to make a bike trail.

I got mine for $120 on craigs list
The seller's house wasn't too far from mine so I got to ride it home after we bought it lol

According to the seller and some research we were doing they were $589 brand new in 2005 and considering that it's in really good condition

I actually have my very own woods with trails that I made in it, but they are pretty thin and have a lot of ruts/ditches in them.

Damn, thats a real nice deal.
I'm currently trying to sale a bike that is like, hella expensive (orange county chopper bicycle, custom limited edition. They range $200-600)

The best way to avoid ruts and ditches is to pull up on your front handlebars before hitting them. If its too deep to just hop than you best hang on.

I wish my mountain bike was still functional. I crashed it awhile ago and snapped the chain, bent up the rings and forgeted up the shifting cable for the rear derailleur. Never bothered to fix/replace them.

The bike I currently ride with is one I borrowed from my friend since he never used it. A Fuji Newest 3.0 from like 2010 or something. It's OK for a starter road bike. Can't comment on the frame since I have no other comparison but the shifting gear is from the lower end of the Shimano lineup and it shows; shifting isn't always smooth and it'll jump occasionally. I'd also definitely invest in higher end brakes when I buy my own bike.

Jesus what kind of jacked up $80 bicycle has a gearbox???

That's a nice bicycle Otis! Also those strawberries on your counter might spoil if you don't refrigerate them.

learning how to ride a bike is just about learning how to make slight turns in the direction that you're falling. The reason it's not very intuitive is because the human body pretty much keeps it's balance by doing the opposite.

or whatever. I explained it pretty badly.
