My friend's forums account forgot the key linked to it.

I am helping a fellow Blocklander to make his own forums account, by talking to him through Steam. So he inputted his Blockland key successfully to his new forums account, but then several minutes later, his forums account forgot his key. And when he tried to re-input the key, it says it's already registered to an account. Why is this happening?
