Okay so after my many years on blockland, I've decided this is what I want to do, create games.
I know there's a stuff ton of people who already want to do it, but the gaming industry in London is growing at a very fast rate.
I've been looking at my options. I can go to university and study a course which I've found. I meet the entry requirements and for about £12.5k per year, for the 3 year course, it looks manageable. You aren't guaranteed to work in the industry when you finish the course, but obviously you'd learn more than you would reading a book, and have the resources and guidance to actually come out with something good. I would also be meeting people who may also have the same vision of me about starting up a company and working alongside each other.
The money is manageable, I can take out a student loan etc.
What I do need to think about is the fact that I COULD learn this stuff at home, living with my parents who I argue with regularly and I really don't like living at home. I would be about an hour drive away from them and I would have my own place or sharing it with someone (I wouldn't mind either option really)
If I take this course, I could quit my stuffty job and my parents would fund me for food so I can survive on my own.
I really do think this is a good option. A friend told me about it, he says its not very good due to the lack of jobs at the end of it, but to be honest, most of the job interviews I've gone to have asked for a degree in ANYTHING.
I think this is good for me, I'm not sure yet. But I sure as hell would like some advice from anyone who's been in the same situation.
I'm not really a technical person, I know how to model well in computer design but coding is not a strong point. I dont think I'd get very far learning code by myself at home.

I've started to look at this university, and I have decided to apply to it.
The course is called Computer Gaming Technology and its three years, about an hours drive from me.
There's an open day next week and I'll be going to that.
Finally, the builder who knows nothing about coding is going to learn to code.

Just finished my personal statement, which I will be sending off tomorrow, pretty excited to hear their reply. In my statement I've basically just talked about Blockland, my trip to Africa and my plans for the future. I'll keep everyone posted here.
