Author Topic: Google Chrome Now Disabling Topic Blocker because "Not From Web Store"  (Read 626 times)

So now the topic blocker from here no longer works because it is not from the chrome web store. It will not let you enable it. Putting chrome into developer mode doesn't work either. Going to the learn more page it links you says that: "For your protection, you can only use Chrome extensions that you get from the Chrome Web Store" and "Extensions that have been disabled are grayed out and you won't be able to re-enable them." Yet I've had this extension for months and it is just now doing this? Anyone know of way around this?

Good, that thing shouldnt exist anyways

Isn't it used on tampermonkey, which is from the Chrome Web Store?

It's only disabled like that on the beta build of chrome iirc. Or maybe it's made its way into the main branch.

Anyways, it's like this because if chrome doesn't work like this then there's no way to prevent malicious extensions from installing themselves without user discretion. There is no way around it whatsoever.

Wha? You copy and paste the script into Tampermonkey, what does Web Store have to do with that? For me it still works.

Thanks! It works now with Tampermonkey. Locking this.
