Author Topic: BLID Rant  (Read 2497 times)

A reason why BL_ID discrimination is stupid is because some players may have given their old accounts to somebody else, and they purchased a new BL key. And a lot of users are banned and de-activated, and come back. Administration should be granted based on merit and track record, not BL_ID.

Even though pretty much nobody 'discriminates' because of BL_ID. If you're trying to get admin on a server that 'discriminates', why don't you just go find a server that doesn't?

I feel like id's should be replaced with a permanent name, but you can still change it
by that I mean like name history, steam has an ID system too but you are identified by that
like steams system, it removes discrimination

A permanent name that can be changed. Okay. So basically just a name that you can change. Steam uses SteamIDs, which are very similar to Blockland IDs. Someone who joined steam 5 years ago will have a lower SteamID than someone who joined last year.

Think of it this way, after a while your ID won't be as high as others.

Can't get rid of them because they're used for banning. The game remembers who's banned by their BLID which can't be changed, whereas name can be.
And it's a nuisance to ban by ip because there are players who have siblings who play and you may want to ban one person and not another.

They're toggled off by default, but you can't blame people for turning them on.
I know people who I only know by their BLID because they change their name so much.

And no, discrimination based on BLID should not happen. Ban users who do discriminate and don't visit the servers of admins who discriminate. That's your only solution.

Badspot could have fixed this in the beginning by having IDs as a randomly generated 1-6 digit number.

What if more than 1 million players purchased the game?

Then he could change it to 7 digit once the number of people got to around 500K-750K

Then he could change it to 7 digit once the number of people got to around 500K-750K
That defeats the purpose since the 6-digit ID's will consider themselves superior to the 7-digit ones.

Then what would stop the 5 digits from considering themselves superior to the 6 digits?

If you change the BLID system then you have to change basically every single addon ever made. It's not going to change. Just ban BLID discriminators and don't join servers who have BLID discriminating admins.

I remember the discrimination when I was a new BL_ID.  The good news is that they all eventually get old.

i think ive only got banned ONCE for being new (my blid is 3300)

Well, I guess we have to live with it then, idk.

Then they'll brag about having a cool looking ID instead.

Bragging != discrimination.

Bragging != discrimination.
Your ID is ugly! Mine's way better!
