the best way to watch Code Geass is watch R1, then skip to the end of the last episode of R2. it won't make a lot of sense but it'll be a lot more enjoyable.

I watched the show all the way through and even though R2 wasn't as good as R1, it was still enjoyable to watch.

Last Exile was cool.

I second this. It's personally my favorite anime, but mainly because it got me into Steam Punk, which is pretty awesome imo.
