What is the real purpose of Mini Empires?

Every single time I join a Mini Empires server I see the exact same thing, a freebuild, that is limited on mini scaled builds, and I get a different answer everytime I ask what is the purpose of it, "oh we build our lands so we can fight each other in our small castles medieval style" "we're building a map" "we're just making a small scaled version of the land so we can build the normal sized one later" (and they never do) "mini bots will fight and interact with each other once this is done" like really is that it? If yes then I guess it should be called Mini Freebuild.

As far as I'm concerned, the good mini empires servers (which sadly, I never participated in) were sort of like roleplaying.
But of course, instead of playing as some crude superhero with some deep dark backstory who must slay the evil of the world and whiteknight his crush...
You play as an empire.
Sort of like a strategy game, like C&C or Civilizations, except roleplaying most of it because there were no add-ons involved, aside from some bricks.

But nowadays all I see is power hungry admins and really stupid people complaining about them all the time.

While in reality, it's just a freebuild since they never host a fully complete land first and then make a minigame with it, instead they just host an empty WIP server so anyone can join and build like any freebuild servers, only small scaled.

But not when we had good ones. Of course, the game didn't stop people from freebuilding, but any good admin would've. Or at least questioned how their empire erupted out of nowhere.

The biggest issue with mini-empires is that the admin always has the largest continent, the best ships/armies, and yet is overly critical to other peoples nations. God forbid you build a ship as good as theirs, "omg u cant advance that fast b realistic!!!" as they destroy your tiny island.


Then theres those servers where everyone just builds on a continent and theres a no-war rule. Like why.

When I used to play mini empires, it would basically be like an RP. It was in a more private context, and the fairness of decisions was determined by a general "yeah that's OK". We had some timers and things we would loaddup that would shoot up a beacon when completed. We also ended up making several scripts to help out with moving units and things.

the servers are hosted by mindless 10 year olds. silly rules that favor the host always + cheating forgets everywhere, especially the host.

Everyone has their own rules on Mini Empires, which has always frustrated me and has even led to Regolus making a drama about me.
