Please tell me this won't be a grindfest like last time.
Trust me I've looked at DRPG from every single angle possible to see if it's possible to remove grinding.
You don't. The entire thing is simply built on grinding.
And it's not the problem either. The problem is that there's nothing else to do but grind. There needs to be other features, or some of the grinding needs to be removed.
For example, mining/woodcutting/farming levels should just be removed. Everything available to any level. Reduced time to mine everything. What does this do? Puts more focus on crafting, the important part of gearing yourself up in a DRPG server.
Then what you can do is put higher tier ores in more dangerous places. This will require people to actually gear up for each tier and fight their way through the tiers. But what about mining speed rewards for higher mining levels, etc? More crafting focus? Make new pickaxes and axes and such. Hell, maybe you could even make pickaxe tiers be the requirements for mining certain ores, and such for trees.
This is just one of the many ideas that could improve DRPG, and take some focus out of grinding forever.
