Author Topic: How do *you* model for Blockland? (Blender)  (Read 826 times)

I don't mean from a technical perspective here, I mean more from a workflow point of view. This is a relatively open-ended question, because I really just want to see how you would, say, model something like the default gun. I notice that most Blender tutorials make use of a lot of sculpting and subdividing, which just doesn't work well with something like Blockland. I would really appreciate it if someone just posted a video of them modelling, just so I can see what exactly you do - create many smaller meshes and model those for details? Extrude from a base cube?

I would record but not on my desktop, all I can tell you is to extrude from the cube.
That's it, if you're adding any other minor/major details and you can't seem to find the faces of what you want to model/scale/extrude then you press Alt-A to add in another mesh, face, vertices, cylinder (which can be adjusted to any side ratio like 8/6/4 sides)/ and a plane.

Some things you should consider when modeling is using views right. Your Numpad should be able to cycle through 4 screens of view and normal view such as X Y or Z axis.
I'll see if I can whip up a video later. I hope this helps.

Alright, thanks.
