Author Topic: how do I make mouse buttons do things??  (Read 1569 times)

well, I guess it's not totally buttons but still
my mouse's scroll wheel can also click, like, side-to-side. like if you move it to the left or right, it presses a button
I'm pretty sure this is supposed to be used for horizontal scrolling, but for some reason, left is scroll down and right is scroll up, just like rolling it normally does
but that's not what I want it to do. really, I don't even want it to scroll horizontally. I just want it to control back and forward, like, as in the browser functions

but idk how to change it!! I checked mouse options in the control panel, but the "buttons" tab for that only has settings for my trackpad's buttons. help me pls

Some programs can help reprogram buttons on keyboards and mice
what are good ones?

Assuming you are running Windows, this program appears to allow for button configuration. http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=26947

If it is what I think it is, it has cool features like macros and stuff too.

EDIT: The Microsoft product "Mouse and Keyboard Center" is the newer replacement for intellipoint and has keyboard stuff too. http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35558
