Author Topic: Did I get raped by this mechanic?  (Read 2308 times)

Took it in to MIDAS for steering and brake check.  Came back and had this bill.

Wtf. But I paid it cause the work was done.  Are those prices even fair? $1.12k total

but mechanics are the most honorable of tradeworkers! surely not!

Should have bought 280 copies of blockland instead.

Did he put the car lifting thing into your star fish and stretch it out?

Keep this stuff in drama you prick.

e.i. Yes you did get ripped off it appears. Most mechanics really aren't that reliable.

Dang that sucks.

My dad had to change the brakes on the previous van we had when the brake pads wore completely out causing the calipers to dig into the rotors destroying them.  He just bought the parts and he and I replaced them ourselves to cut out the labor costs, but it was hard work on a 3 ton van.

I laughed at "shop supplies charge." What the forget is that? If the shop doesn't have the supplies to fix your car that's their own fault, they shouldn't charge you for their incompetency. I have no idea what an "axle shaft seal" is, but I'd probably be pretty angry if I went to pick up my car from a brake check and they'd done $500 worth of repairs I didn't ask for without consulting me first.

why did they put a maxi-pad on your brakes

did you just ok all that stuff? i mean they will tell you a million things that could be done, dosnt matter if you need it.

they cant do it till you ok it over the phone
