How long does it take for the profile avatar to change?

My current avatar is pretty blurry right now, and I attempted to change my profile avatar to a different one I made (it's 28x42). However, it has not yet changed to the new one. About how long does it usually take for it to change?

I changed mine and it took a week to update, then I changed it to a GIF and it changed instantly. Ever since then it has been instant

It usually changes instantly if you upload a different file format.
My previous change took about 2 weeks, most recent took a day.
