Author Topic: Furdle's going to university (Updated 28th June)  (Read 2711 times)

DK has an amazing government welfare system, schooling is free, healthcare is way above worldwide standards (and it's free). I'd move there if they offered dual citizenship's.

I know, and that's why mostly everyone bikes to get around or uses public transport. I have a few family in Kopenhagen and Odense.

Okay to answer a few questions..
I'll be learning lots of different stuff, basically all the stuff that covers a game, so id pretty much be able to create a game (such as blockland) by myself, excluding things like graphic design or whatever.
A lot of the projects are set around making a game and presenting it, working with other students around the university like graphic designers, and then be marked on the quality of game (in a few modules of the course) I'll be there for 4 years, probably still being on blockland or working on my own thing.
No, I won't be creating a massive game which will sell millions of copies, I'll be working on small games and probably even release them on this forum for all blocklanders to see.
I spoke to head of admissions on the phone yesterday and he was very interested by my work on blockland and is eager to see how I can use the creativity learned from this game and apply it to my projects. As I don't have good grades from college, they took special note to my personal statement and decided I am well committed and ready to learn what they have to offer.
@boodals if you PM me with your course and uni I'll let you know if I'm close to you :)

that's loving awesome, you should make a game subtly based on us.

Actually, in my almighty game I have, I've based some characters off the personality, and some case names, of blockland players. Originally I was going to make the server on blockland but then I started doing some creative writing around it, I wrote a few chapters of a novel about it. Nobody except Pass and my dad have seen it. I'm hoping to develop it if I have an extreme amount of resources at my disposal in the distant future.

c-can i be in your game pls

I assume you recieved an unconditional offer, since you're not currently in education.

Congrats on getting in. I hope you enjoy it.
I went to an open day for my uni (University of Wales TSD) in February, and just last week I was at a weekend humanities conference there, exploring taster sessions, tours of the town, accommodation and a visit to their private archaeological digsite of a 12th century Cistercian monastery.

I absolutely loved it and am buzzing to go in September.

And congrats on your personal statement. I told you that uni's pay good attention to them. They thoroughly enjoy a passionate pupil. I was fast-tracked to an unconditional offer based on my Personal Statement.

Yep, unconditional.
They're nervous how I've only got 100 UCAS points when I need 200, so they've put me on a foundation course for a year before the actual one.
Thanks for your previous advice btw

too late now its already written.

I based one of my characters off the player Jervan. His ID is like 300 something.
10 year old Furdle really looked up to him, he even gave me the name of Furdle.
Haven't spoken to him in like 8 years but yeah I based a character around how I imagined him 30+ years.

I have a few family in Kopenhagen

What is this weird mix of national and international spelling? It makes sense to try to substitute ø for o, but it'd be København (not Københagen). It looks like you took that last part from the international spelling, Copenhagen, but that's with a C.

Just visited the university. Very nice place.
I walked into the lecture room, a standard sized classroom, very modern interior almost like a high tech office. Every computer had two monitors, one vertical for coding and one horizontal for testing.
There's lots of engines I'll have access to like unity and udk.
I noticed everyone in the class were pale brony virgins.. I'm so glad I'm going to staying in a house with random strangers, probably won't be stuck with any people from my classes.
I've decided that the avalible engines are good enough to work on my game project once I learn the skills to create it.
I'll be there for 4 years. If anyone is near Cambridge in England, hit me up.
