Simon ignores the aircraft he just got of Jasper's tail, wipes the sweat off his brow, and goes after another one of the jets on Jasper's tail, taking careful aim with his rotary cannon and firing off a 2-second burst at the enemy Jaguar.

How you managed to wipe sweat off of your brow while wearing a helmet that covers approximately all of your head is a mystery that will stand the test of time. The Jaguar, having already fired ts HSMs at its target, pitches steeply downwards, pulling up and rolling to the left. Several of your shots go wide, although a few land on the wings and such. The plane is still up in the air.

I get on the tail of a Jaguar and fire my cannon at it.

The Jaguar cannot recover quickly enough to avoid this volley and it is knocked out of the air. The pilot ejects.

I drop flares silently and, just in case, do evade maneuvers.

The first missile goes for the flares, the second ignores them. You are forced to evade in such a way that puts you alarmingly close to the ground and with a little bit too much airspeed.

With its entire tail assembly sheared off, the Viggen flops about wildly before spouting out its pilot in angry disapproval. "Bagged that SOB! Splash one Viggen!"

By now the wingman had made his way directly across from me, and I enter the turning circle in a neutral situation. Dammit. I need to paste this guy fast.

The HUD airspeed indicator gives me a reading just over 200KTS. My eyes fall back down to the red safety cover. Hey now. I thought I promised myself not to try any more stupid stuff after challenging that Saber pilot to a game of chicken. Didn't I already learn my lesson?

My finger flicks the cover open and pushes the toggle.

Nah.

I jam the stick into my gut, pitching the Mirage into a sloppy Cobra turn. Despite all the wobbling, I manage to get just enough aspect on the Viggen to fire an HSM. The cackle of the sonic boom coincides with a distinct BANG one would commonly associate with compressor stalls.

The Viggen attempts to evade, gets sloppy, and goes bang. So does your air intake. It is on fire. Your engine is not working.
Might want to deal with that.

Targets requiring immediate attention:
8x Saab Gripen
1x Saab Viggen
0x SEPECAT Jaguar

Targets not requiring immediate attention:
Everything else

Pull up from the ground, recover like nothing happened. Then, fire a missile at a Gripen.

Wow I'm loving handicapped.

Don't worry NAUC decided to spend $22 billion dollars that could have gone towards reactive armor on battle tanks towards upgrading flight helmets with windshield wipers on the inside to wipe the sweat off the pilot's brow.

it will forever be understood as a clipping error in reality's physics engine

I pitch and roll back into level flight. The explosive releases of compressed air eventually cease.

... But not before extinguishing the flame in the combustion chamber and setting the intake on fire. forget, man. That wasn't supposed to happen.

The OVERTEMP light flickers intermittently as the turbines swallow hot gasses generated by the fire. I reduce power to idle, cut the right engine fuel feed and punch the extinguishers.

I carefully look at each of the Gripens for bombs while trying to avoid getting tailed; "I need all damaged aircraft to begin leaving the operation area, I'm not willing to risk anybody getting shot down if the mission goes south." I lock onto a Gripen, firing a single heatseeker directly on the tail of the plane before banking left to lead with the gun sights. I fire the cannon and another heatseeker as the first one streaks across the sky, breaking off by banking right- away from the Gripen.

I look at the plane next to me, that is on fire. "Casey, you might want to RTB."

I look at the plane next to me, that is on fire. "Casey, you might want to RTB."
I should return to blockland.
I know its Return to base

Simon flicks a switch and speaks to Casey over the radio.
"Hey Casey, I'm a bit banged up too, but not as much as you. I'll try and cover you as we pull out, alright?"

I audibly sigh.

"Roger that. I'll form up on you. Cowboy, egressing and returning to base."

I push forward on the port power lever and make a run for it, flying towards Simon's Hornet.

Pull up from the ground, recover like nothing happened. Then, fire a missile at a Gripen.

Having previously been pointed straight at the ground I'm gonna not allow this. You're pointed at a tree and should pull up before you hit the tree.

Your plane is still capable of normal-ish flight. Just don't hit the afterburners.

The Gripen is littered with holes, the missile only cementing how dead the plane is. The pilot had ejected beforehand.

I audibly sigh.

"Roger that. I'll form up on you. Cowboy, egressing and returning to base."

I push forward on the port power lever and make a run for it, flying towards Simon's Hornet.

A Gripen and the last Viggen begin tailing you.

AWACS informs you that a separate air superiority squadron has moved in to cover against the helicopters and strategic bombers.

oh. Well, pull up before I hit the tree and fire a missile at a Gripen.

"I got it." I aim my crosshair at the left engine and fire my cannon at the Viggen.
