Awh... :(

I run to the briefing room.

.. Finally!

I drop the chest lid, feeling satisfied after having stowed away the last of my belongings. The very instant the latch closes however, an announcement rings over the PA system, ordering pilots to report to the mission briefing. Well, stuff.

The chest lid flies open and I quickly grab my flight suit. I throw it on, holster my pistol, and run over to the briefing room.

There you go, the mission is full.

"Good luck on the mission!" I pack my sidearm and go to the logistics division headquarters to make some requisitions for a few parts, nothing extremely outrageous.

This thread has become a clusterforget. I am fixing it with a mission. First 5 people to get to the briefing room can participate in it. GO.
(If you don't make it, sorry, maybe next time. 8 or 9 or whatever number of people going on a side mission just seems like a bit much.)

Unlikely, flares can't stop radar guided missiles. Chaff is too old and not used as much since there are stronger and more modern radar systems out there. You'd need a dedicated SEAD/Electronic warfare plane such as a Raven or a Prowler to jam radars. Plus modern infrared based missiles like the Strela have seeker head optics to lock on to the original heat source which makes flares useless.

Participants in OPERATION GLASS VANGUARD:
mlockha (F/A-18)
Mr. Hurricane (MiG-29)
Swat 3 (Mirage 4000)
Gojira (MiG-29)
Nozoner (Mirage 4000)

The officer in the room waits for you all to get seated before speaking.
"Our allies in Mercana were just dealt a devastating blow at sea, and lost a good chunk of their naval aviators in the process. As a result, they are in dire need of reinforcement. Making matters more urgent is the Huit task force mobilizing to attack one of their few remaining naval bases. If they lose that base, It could take years for them to get their sea legs back; and with the Huit navy at its most dangerous in decades, we cannot allow such a loss. Relevant intel has been uploaded to your PDAs. Good hunting out there."

Available planes for this mission are:
Mirage 4000
Heavy Aerial Cannon
4x HSM
8X AGM
2x Flares

F/A-18 Hornet
Rotary Aerial Cannon
6x HSM
6x AGM
2x Flares

MiG-29
Aerial Flak Cannon
8x HSM
4x AGM
2x Flares

Huit SAM tech is highly advanced. Flares are not a guaranteed way to evade a surface-launched missile (though they will serve you very well against other planes). The best way to deal with Huit SAMs is to jam the missiles or allow ground forces to take them out. Evasive maneuvers will also work, but time you spend dodging missiles is time you aren't spending to complete objectives, and leaves you vulnerable to other planes.

well I guess you're stuck at the base attaching new shiny parts to your aircraft

Maybe next time. If it's the same 5 people every mission and people are feeling left out, I'll mix it up a bit.
As for everyone else, choose a plane so we can get going.

Needs more BUK.

I sift through the information on my pad for a few minutes, brown townyzing it, before heading to the locker room to get suited up.

My MiG-29 waits in the hanger.
