I do pre-flight checks, putting a thumbs up to the indentured lead mechanic, he signals for those under him to take out the engine blocker pad things and the wheel blocker wood thingies.
I start up my engines after the hangars door open. The purr of the engine arouses me.

I trail up behind Major Coaxoch in the elephant walk toward the runway and ask her in Hutzian what will be the reward for the most confirmed kills, or, at least I think I said that.

I'm not sure, you might have asked about her dragon carrot collection.

I'm pretty sure we have plenty of parts for the Mirage 2000 in the maintenance department.

I check with the maintenance department. No left flaps, apparently. They were out. They ask me to order a few more. "..."

I order about 5 more left flaps for them, anyways.

(please dont get on my case, they were out, ok?)

She gives you a strange look, as though you definitely spoke in some broken-ass Huit, but she doesn't want to make you feel bad about it.
"[I haven't even thought about a competition yet. It depends on how you all distinguish yourselves.]"

You can only tell that she gave a strange look because you could hear the second-hand embarrassment in her voice.

It takes me around 10 seconds to piece her sentence together, but then I respond: "[Is okay, yes.]" I feel happy that I can speak Huitzian and have her understand it, even though it may be a little broken, as I can obviously tell from her voice.

The maintenance department can get the parts from the logistics department in a day, you don't need to put in a requisition order for spare parts because they'll be able to get it faster.

Requisitions kind of fall under the territory of "oh I need a new plane" or "oh I need a new gun to put on my new plane" or "oh I need a new equipment package so I can use the new gun I put on my new plane to shoot things better"
Otherwise you can just send a little message to the maintenance department saying "hey can you fix my plane because I decided to play chicken with a craft superior to mine"

Special stuff like hyper-coolant and superconductor wires or research are requisitions items though, you can't just shoot a little message to maintenance asking if you can get those. Because you can't.
Well maybe the research.

"It is a beau-ti-ful day," I say, hoping into my new Rafale

I hit the master switch and begin running through the checklist, as mechanics load the last of the ordnance.

"Eagle 1-7 Radio check," I say.

FYI you're stuck with the MiG-29

No, he's using a Dassault Rafale, just like everyone else in the squad (except the leader, who's using a Sabre, and the SIC, whos using a Tornado).

"Loud and clear, Rory." I say as I get prepared to lift off the runway, Coaxoch shooting off the runway. I do a casual salute towards her as she gathers up thrust beforehand.

"Usually we don't do that, Turtle, it is rude." She says as she blasts off. I sigh heavily and do my slow take off.

Just a heads up I'll be doing a lot of stuff the next three days starting the 16th, so my activity may be worse or possibly backwards-ly better than before.

The aircraft lumbers down the runway, under the strain of its advanced armaments. I pull back on the stick, the aircraft ceases to shutter. As I pick up speed, the aircraft starts to become more responsive.
